Five Years of Joy: Reflections on Parenthood, Pandemic Adventures, and the Messy Magic of Growing Up
It has been almost 5 years since the girls made their way into our lives, and I was reminded today how in the early days of Covid, our outings were very local. This shop was a favourite, which is why I think the pakciks are still entirely indulgent of their messy antics.
Not much has changed, today Pips had on a dress too thick and too tight for the weather and insisted on pulling it off in public and wearing my linen shirt instead. She is always doing things that horrify her sister who would not even use the public restroom. I was amused to notice the shirt actually did match her sandals and if you look closely, she is still clutching food in one hand- her purposefulness and urgency in eating her way through the market hasn’t waned.
The difference is that when I look at them today, I can see what they might look like at 10 and 15. They are even already dressing the way they may then. You are so excitedly anticipating your birthday month, my littlest loves, but I wish we could freeze time so I might spend years basking in your 5-year old personalities.
