Another Place, Lake District

Summer nights. One of the boys’ happiest places is any lake, they spent hours just chasing each other in a kayak while I introduced Rowan to the culturally dubious tradition of making a feather headband. My memory of the Lake District was that it is poor value, the rooms are small and squeezed, so I was really pleased to stumble upon this family-friendly concept chain which offers cool and larger accomodation (they have bunk bed shepards’ huts and treehouse rooms) and modern subway tiled power showers, tied up with water sports, morning and afternoon drop-off kids Ofsted schoolhouse, and in-house restaurants. The glass Greenhouse cafe made great pizzas with ingredients you snipped.

It’s slightly away from the main Ambleside/Windermere drag but the view is amazing and we maxed out the hours skipping rocks and paddling- Another Place, The Lake.
