Adventure

CA-MT-WY-WA-OR: Multnomah Falls to Bend, Oregon to spend time with Dad’s roommates and Purdue swimming alumni families. True to form, the boys found one last fun- a monster truck rally, in Seattle before they head back.

The places they’ve stayed at are Green Apple Alpacas, Le Bon Acres, Blue Heron Cheese Farm and Stone City Farms, which had this pleasant space with an Adirondack campfire and made them dinner pizzas that Wes took three pictures of.

We usually have a themed reading list for travel but the boys have been doing more writing and math this time, so the list is short. Their latest interest is books that teach you to fold all kinds of paper planes.

1. We are Water Protectors, Carole Lindstrom

2. Jade, Lost in Yellowstone, Michelle Caffrey (charming true storey of a dog lost for 48 days in the wilderness)

3. National Parks of the USA, Kate Siber

4. Claude, the true story of a White Alligator, Emma Bland Smith (the albino alligator at the Californian Academy of Arts and Sciences)

5. It’s not the Stork, Robie H Harris

6. Making a Baby, Rachel Greener
